A 13-year old from Nigeria finds an affordably cool solution to beat the scorching summer

Nigeria

When everyone across the globe is feeling the atrocious wave of the scorching heat, a 13 year old has decided to make the world a better (and cooler) place to live in with the help of wireless fans.

Ukoma Michael, a 13 year old kid from Nigeria created a wireless fan that can work upto 19 hours in a single charge. This makes Michael one of the youngest entrepreneurs in the tech industry. Blue Wind Fans, as they are known, are available in various shapes and sizes including the convenient free standing fans and the much needed table tops.

But what about the price? Such fans must be expensive!

Here’s the good part. Michael uses aluminium metal and wire to create these affordable fans and uses old cartons for their packaging, which encourages recycling. Even though, these fans are very economic and can be afforded by families with a financial stringency, Michael has not compromised with their appearance. He has made sure that the fans seem modern and high-tech and that the low cost should not adversely affect their appearance.

And Ukoma Michael is not going to stop here. In future, he will not limit his manufacture to fans, but is also willing to manufacture aircrafts and engine parts.

Schools in African nations such as Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and South Africa are encouraging young minds to find, develop and create extraordinary but affordable solutions to the country’s problems.

Surely, bright, adolescent minds of Africa such as Ukoma Michael, are grabbing the opportunity provided by their schools and giving back to the society and their communities at such a tender age. This is not only improving their lives and upgrading their standard of living but is also developing a huge market and creating a culture of innovation along with Africa’s gradual growth and development.
