At just 24, He is a Karmaveer Chakra awardee and CEO of a Technology Company

Meet RAKESH BISWAS – Chairman of IYSERT Energy PVT. LTD. who is changing the way we perceive alternate energy through his projects and is inspiring youth all over.

“I wanted to be an Army officer, but destiny always had something else stored for me”, He said promptly in between the interview. This answer of his portrayed the clarity of thoughts he possessed.  Too often we come across scenarios where students toil day and night, thinking about feasible and different career prospects and try to figure out their area of interest, but we came across Rakesh Biswas, a 22 year old who had a prodigious scientific insight and an incessant hunger for making socially sustainable solutions a reality from a very tender age that is hard to believe.

Born on 1st January 1991, Rakesh Biswas belonged to a family of Army Officials. His inclination towards science started when he was a student of Class 9th. He participated in the National Science Congress competition for which he chose to create a project on Rain water harvesting. He made a Rain water harvesting bridge which brought him the 1st   prize. This win boosted his morale and helped him in contriving numerous projects throughout his school life. After his school a streak of dilemma followed him but it was short lived when his father motivated him to choose a field of his own choice, a field he aspired for. And he knew exactly knew where his aspirations lay. TECHNOLOGY.

The next phase in his life commenced when he joined GRAPHIC ERA UNIVERSITY for Engineering as Biotechnology and Masters in Business Administration. Though he was a bit nervous about this new field of education but his determination always took him forward. He had to face innumerable obstacles as there were no faculty in college who supported his projects and ideas. Rakesh once designed a Magnetic Engine which could work without fuel consumption and pitched it to a Professor of his for the project funding. “This is quite impractical, and I would suggest you to cease the project”, mocked the professor. However, Rakesh managed to shape his idea into reality with the help of his father. Rakesh applied for a patent which he earned soon after which he even received a call of appreciation from IIT Roorkee. Thus a more focused research and study began for Rakesh with this chapter which also led him to beget the Waste Battery project in regard of electricity in the year 2010.

Rakesh initiated himself to participate in the Rhodes Youth Forum, held in Greece. The forum demanded a socially viable project which should also have the doctrine of technology. Despite of the pessimism of his professors, he, with his father’s help, was determined to win this competition.  Although he was not equipped with any formal clothes for his presentation at Greece, but he was equipped with his brilliance and tenacity. He won the 1st position for the project on “Social and Quality Life Improvement” and also a cash Prize of Rs. 25 lakhs, which he used for his dream – INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SOCIETY OF ECOFRIENDLY AND RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGY (IYSERT), now known as “IYSERT ENERGY Pvt. Ltd”
He started his Waste management project and made different saleable products from that waste. He is the benefactor of many self sustainable projects for village women which is still active. Under his company, he is designing portable turbines for electricity generation. Rakesh’s travelling and propagating his conceptions made him the Youth Ambassador for the year 2012. In the year 2015, he received the Karamveer Chakra Award (Rex Global Fellowship) for his Excellent Contribution in environment and Smart technology. He was also invited as a Speaker at TEDX EMWS Mumbai.
The paramount thought which Rakesh is trying crystallize into a reality, is his dream of establishing an IYSERT university, which will have an international distinction and will furnish energy courses. This is a step taken by him to integrate the youth of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan to develop a holistic approach to acquire knowledge. When asked to convey a message for the youth, Rakesh inspirited by saying that today’s youth should move towards technological development and entrepreneurship and start at the grass root level. They should have a realistic and sustainable vision which will help us in achieving the ambition of a world with a peaceful and a sustainable future.
