What in the world is ours? It is but everyone’s and Colin Kaepernick is a man who believes in this pristine dogma of sharing. NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has generously donated a part of his massive sneaker collection to homeless shelters and orphanages in the Bay Area, as shown in a video posted on Instagram by his girlfriend, DJ Nessa. The shoe donation comes along with his Million Dollar Pledge and a promise to give away $100,000 per month for 10 months to various organizations grappling with monetary impediments.
The charity drive was initiated back in the October of 2016, and till now donations to organizations such as Causa Justa in the Bay Area, Mother Against Police Brutality in Dallas, the I Will Not Die Young campaign in Milwaukee and Appetite for Change in Minneapolis have been made. Colin has gallantly stood up for the sanctity of black lives by kneeling during the National Anthem. The quality of sharing is so deeply ingrained in him that he received the 2016 Len Eshmont Award from his teammates last year.
“I’ve been very blessed to be in this position and to be able to make the kind of money I do. And I must help these people. I should help these communities. It’s not right that they’re not put able to succeed or given those opportunities to succeed.” says Colin Kaepernick. Colin has stated that even if the shoes don’t fit them, they can sell it as they are in good condition.
People like Colin Kaepernick, are making a world a better place to inhabit. He has single handedly helped innumerable lives and tried to provide a better outlook to them. This has set a benchmark for many athletes and celebrities who can contribute so much with the financial prowess they possess.
