Often in the rumble of conversations on sustainability there is a constant spotlight on problems and not on the solutions and ironically, it is often in simplicity that we find the best solutions. The Smart Canopy is one such solution that stands at that juncture simplicity, innovation, and impact. Smart Canopy is an opportunity to make open spaces such as parking lots, walkways and public transport stops owned by organisations and individuals sustainable. These spaces have a provision for shading but they are not sustainable and do not generate any returns. The solution, therefore, leads amicably to Smart Canopy. It saves rainwater due to its convex shape and also utilizes solar energy to power its own LED lights, provides an internet hotspot, device charging options and a cool place for people to gather under. We can also expect a version that supports EV charging soon.
