Started by Sally Holkar in 2003, WomenWeave is a global not for profit helping impoverished and underserved women from Maheshwar and other clusters to earn a sustainable and dignified livelihood through weaving, making the complete process inclusive and holistic. Recently, WomenWeave also started a unique initiative called The Handloom School that trains young weavers in entrepreneurship to create future ambassadors of handloom committed to its survival in India.
The Optimist Citizen conceptualized, shot, edited and produced 2 documentaries on the WomenWeave’s Gudi Mudi Khaadi initiative and The Handloom School’s 9th Batch, respectively.
