A writer constantly writes because he is tormented by his thoughts, he constantly needs to prove to himself and to others that he is actually worth something. Laxman Rao is one such story teller who has 24 literary works to his name out of which 12 have been printed and 6 re printed. But his accomplishments speak just a partial aspect of his personality. The aspect that makes him different from other authors is that he is a CHAIWALA in the morning and an author by night . Life was always harsh to him, starting from leaving home at the age of 18 with merely 40 bucks in his pocket to his days at the publishers offices where he was reminded of every reason why he couldn’t achieve his dream of being an author. Where he was constantly reminded that how he lacked money, the knowledge and the language to become one.
But he wasn’t booted down by the constant rejection and damnation, rather he found new ways to contructively develop his skills in reading, writing and learning the nitty gritties of literature which made him stronger and exceptionally determined with the passing of each day.He kept putting one foot in front of the other, even after continuous hurdles and failure, for he was always wishful about the next thing around the corner. He showed everyone that self belief is the catalyst for spectacular achievements like being invited to the Rashtrapati Bhawan by former president SMT. Pratibha Patil and being honoured with 37 various literary awards for his famous works like RAMDAS , ABHIVYAKTI etc. His growth and greatness came from those seemingly endless fruitless days of discipline.
As years went by words kept coming into his mind which penetrated him so deeply that they constantly changed his perspectives and writing style. He stumbled away to his novels, working on ideas of society, politics, love etc. But still he never let such exemplary skills vanquish his sense of humility and grounded nature. One can still witness him in the streets of Delhi selling Chai and books together being the usual good natured man he is and concretising on the fact that it is not the words you write that define you, instead it is your actions that infuse life into your words creating a story of unparalleled excellence and inspiration. The life of Laxman Rao is a story like this – a life full of determination and humility.
