The Optimist Citizen

Meet the Winners of 3M-CII YICA 2020

The world has been hit. Hard! There is hardly any opportunity to deny that. All of us had been nipped at the bud, and have been left in tatters. Although a considerable amount of time has passed since the worst of this storm hit us, we are still figuring out a way, or maybe a way in. A way in to understand this cacophony better. An attempt to figure out what the best this world has to offer. How our best can be our foremost attempt to glorify the single most relevant trait of Human Beings – Resilience.

The 3M-CII Young Innovators Challenge Awards 2020, attempts to celebrate this spirit of resilience this year by bringing forward Inclusive Ideas for a Relevant India. The Optimist Citizen is proud to support the awards and the immaculate innovation that come out of the stable as a Storytelling Partner.

The Awards this year saw more than 2500 applications and innovation; the most it has seen since its inception. Out of the 2500+, 50% were Product Innovation, with the remaining comprising of Rural and Service Innovation at 22.4% and 27.6% respectively. Moreover, almost half (42.4%) of the innovation had a prototype ready to solve pertinent problems. These entries went through a rigorous shortlisting process, wherein 150 of the best submissions were able to make a pitch to a large ensemble of a virtual jury. The Grand Jury eventually selected 7 innovations (6 Winners and 1 Special Mention) that represent the cohort of this year’s 3M-CII Young Innovators Challenge Awards 2020.
