A severe tornado ravaged the lives of thousands of residents of New Orleans in Mid-February 2017, taking away numerous lives and damaging millions of dollars’ worth of property. The New Orleans Pelicans’ point-back Jrue Holiday was extremely moved and traumatised by the catastrophe. As a personal effort to ease the pain of the victims he pledged to donate $1,000 for every point and assist he made during his next game of Basketball, against the San Antonio Spurs. The donation of Jrue has been routed towards The Greater New Orleans Foundation Tornado Relief Fund. The money will benefit families and individuals affected by the tornadoes.

“It’s a shame that in the matter of minutes these storms produced such violent tornadoes that literally upended the lives of so many residents of New Orleans,” Jrue told NBA. “This financial pledge is a unique way I thought of that can have a positive impact on some of the peoples’ lives and help them get back on their feet and assist them in getting their lives back in order.”
