Above all religion, above every division, resides humanism. And this conviction has been bravely portrayed by the Muslims of London who gathered in large number to donate food to the homeless people on Christmas. The people from the Mosque of East London, acted as a Secret Santa to all those who search for food and shelter in the times of harsh weather conditions.
The Charity drive, organized by Muslim Aid and the East London Mosque in Whitechapel saw thousands of congregants bring food donations. Local businesses, schools, universities and leaders from other faiths also participated in the drive. 10 tonnes of food was collected which was then donated to Homeless Charity, ‘Crisis’. The collected food included crates of fruits, shopping bags filled with rice, pasta, cereals and other tinned goods items.
