The name of Senthamil’s farm is ‘Arivu Thottam’ that literally translates to ‘Knowledge farm’, which is exactly what he is trying to propagate through his organic farm. His farm is equipped with banana plantations, horticulture space with brinjals, tomatoes, chillies and other green veggies. To add to it, the farm has about 110 coconut trees, 90 mango trees, 25 Sapodilla (Chiku) trees and about 33 lemon trees. He only uses organic methods to yield crops on his farm. He has a drip irrigation system distributing water equally throughout his 3-acre land. He uses word of mouth as his marketing strategy and sells most of his produced goods through relatives and close friends in Chennai. In an era where people are buying barren lands and converting them into skyscrapers, a retired banker has switched the gears and has bought a three-acre land by selling his house in Katpadi, Tamil Nadu. Senthamil Selvan, a 63-year-old man with 36 years in the banking, opted for a voluntary retirement about 6 years ago and opened his own green lush organic farm in the city of Vellore. Senthamil, as a banker, provided loans to the farmers for agricultural purposes. He was astonished to witness the constant declination of farmers in this field. He interacted and encouraged the farmers regularly but the results were never up to the mark
